I live in the northern part of the Netherlands. On this site I tell you something about my hobby, which is carving netsuke.</font><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace: none"> <font face="Arial"><span style="layout-grid-mode: line"> Several years ago I wanted to start collecting netsuke. I found out that I couldn't afford old ones. And the new ones I could afford I didn't like. So one day I tryed carving them myself. At first with just a whitling knife but I soon needed more tools. I bought some small gouges,veiners and V-tools and adapted them for carving small objects. Also I made my own tools from dental instruments. On the other pages of this site you can read more about tools, materials and techniques. </span></font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace: none"> <font face="Arial">I carve netsuke for about 7 years now. Almost every evening at my desk in the living room. Always trying to improve my skills and finding out new techniques. </font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace: none"> <font face="Arial">I use pictures of old netsuke from books as examples. I'm not trying to make exact copy's of old ones but I choose subjects which apeal to me.
