Centipede meets spider 2024

Made from a piece of boxwood branch with a large split. Overall natural shape left intact. About 16 cm high.

Shõzuka Baba 2024

The Hag from Hell. She is the only female official in the Buddhist hell. She is a giantess en recognised by her pendulous breasts and belly. Her bag is for the clothes she steals from the wicked dead. She lets dead children build piles of rocks that she knocks down every night. Carved in cherry wood, 14 cm high. It could be a very large netsuke but I didn’t carve a himotishi. Inlaid eyes and teeth.

Carp 2024

I carved a carp out of a yew wood log. It is 18 cm long. The eyes are made of amber with pupils inside.
